Curly Kale w/Onions



*1 bunch curly kale cut or torn into pieces

*3 medium fresh (not dried) sweet onions

3-4 slices bacon (or turkey bacon)

1 Tbls. butter (if needed)

1 Tbls. brown sugar



Dice bacon, put in frying pan over medium heat. If you use turkey bacon you may need to add the 1 Tbls. butter. Peel one outer layer from each onion. Cut each onion in half vertically and then cut each piece of onion into thin slices. Add sliced onion to bacon in pan.… Continue

Fresh tomato salad



*2 large ripe tomatoes

*5 – 6 large fresh basil leaves

*½ bulb fresh garlic

1-2 Tbls. of olive oil

salt and pepper to taste



Cut tomatoes into cubes, put into flat dish. Chop garlic very finely. Cut basil leaves into very fine strips and then cut strips into smaller pieces.

They get up early rain or shine set up their booth in hopes of seeing some old friends, making some new ones, and most of all pleasing a customer with their products.  Vendors do not make tons of money they rarely over charge and thrive on making someone happy with conversation and knowing that one more someone enjoys the fruits of their labor.  Then the real vendor sets up next week hoping…

I was at the May 7 market, it was a nice day, if a bit windy.  I will be back on May 21, and hope to see even more customers and vendors.  I hope that everyone that comes has a really good day, and stops to visit all the vendors.

We are at the beginning of our quest to not only buy American made, eat without chemicals included, provide a lot of if not all of our needs our selves.  Some might call this work, we call it entertainment! When you are milking a goat who decides to fidget and you set the container of milk on you chair while you rearrange the milk stand and then sit in the milk yourself, this is entertainment.

Awesome! I have lived in Benson for 3 years and did not know the Benson Farmers Market existed! I was walking north of Maple (daily event) and saw a sign in someones yard. Curious I searched on line until I found this site. Man! I have been missing out!!!
